Namestorm goes to monastery for name finding

When we received the request, we were surprised, because we had never done that before: finding a name for an upscale restaurant in an abbey. We were even more surprised when it actually came to working together and it quickly became clear that Maria Laach is also impressively professional in its external presentation. We were briefed extensively, provided with exciting background information and were soon able to choose the favorite TAUSEND93 as the new restaurant name. A naming project that was a lot of fun for the Namestorm team and convinced the client:

"In Namestorm we found a creative agency that presented out-of-the-box name ideas. Names that we would never have thought of in this way. The domain and trademark checking service simplified our work enormously and we thus had a very short Time2Market." Sebastian M. Kriesmer, Marketing Manager Maria Laach e.V.

The restaurant concept: sustainably convincing

The Seehotel Maria Laach restaurant belongs to the Benedictine Abbey of Maria Laach and uses only seasonal and regional products, most of which come from the monastery's own farm. Fish from the monastery fishery directly from Lake Laach, beef and pork from the organic monastery farm and even the tableware is made exclusively in the ceramic manufactory of the Benedictine Abbey.

The new name: Contemporary and historical at the same time

The combination of tradition, history and a newly conceived holistic approach was decisive for the name development. 1093 is the year in which Count Palatine Heinrich II founded the Maria Laach monastery and thus embodies the history of the place. Newly and creatively staged by the spelling  – the German word for "thousand" in Letters plus "93" in figures – the historical year becomes a strong brand name that represents the new holistic understanding and the multitude of pleasures.
